Kia ora! Here’s an invitation to join our Community Musicking session at the Wallaceville Church on Sunday 2nd of November from 5-6pm.

Whether you love to sing, drum, play an instrument, or simply listen to music, there’s a place for you. Bring a song to share, your favorite instrument (don’t worry if you don’t have one, there’ll be plenty for all), and lets have fun!

Facilitated by Registered Music Therapist Carlos Riegelhaupt, these sessions offer an opportunity for people in our community to meet and connect through collective music-making in a welcoming and non-judgmental space. Together we will focus on 'play' when playing music together, exploring fun ways to express ourselves musically as individuals and as a group.

No musical experience is necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to participate.

Musicking is a term coined by musicologist Christopher Small to describe music as an active process of engagement in music. It encompasses all forms of musical engagement, including playing, singing, listening, dancing, composing, and even facilitating musical experiences.

Rather than seeing music as just a product (a song or a performance), musicking highlights the relationships and interactions that emerge through engaging in musical activities. It emphasizes participation, expression, connection, shared experience, and fun.

🎶 All are welcome!
